We get many tips about where to find interesting restaurants from streaming documentaries. That was how we came over Mirazur, where Argentinian head chef Mauro Colagreco creates his modernist cuisine. He is quite successful, Mirazur was ranked as no. 1 in 2019 on The World´s 50 Best Restaurants (www.theworlds50best.com).

Mirazur is in Menton, a pittoresque coastal city very close to the French/Italian border at the French Riviera. It is a little more than one hour train ride from Cannes, our base at the Cote ´Azur. We went there in January on a partly sunny day that for northerners like us felt like kind of a summer.

All tables are good at Mirazur…

…but we got the best table in the house :-)

Mirazur is dedicated to growing their own vegetables and the menu reflects what is in currently in season. Upon arrival we got a lecture in the restaurants philosophy and Nina was given a booklet called “Calendrier des legumes”, a little calendar of vegetables and description of when they are in season. Being in sync with nature seems to be important to Mirazur.

They where the first restaurant in the world to be certified as plastic free.

 

The above pictures gives you a small flavour of our delicious meal.

This was purely for our pleasure, and we did not take notes. We had a great time, with fantastic food, tasteful wines and a big fat check at the end.
